Based on a discussion at Bootsnall, I’ve compiled a list of some of the tips I found in useful for general, long-term travel.
- Bring a small, wedge-shaped rubber door stop. This, coupled with any quality lock, will pretty much guarantee no one can enter your room.
- Bring several sturdy zip-lock bags.
- Bring a universal drain stopper plug.
- Lavender oil is rumored to repel bed bugs.
- Keep your passport in a sealable, clear plastic sleeve. These can easily be found at most local camera stores.
- Gold Bond Medicated Powder is a godsend.

Um, ew. Bedbugs. Good to know that you can aromatherapy yourself to a bedbug-free sleep with the lavendula.
As for the Gold Bond, I am now thinking about parts of you two that I just don’t really ever want to be thinking about.
I am going to go scrub my brain now.
where do you put the lavender? On you or on a bed? let us all know.
